Category: Scotch, Single Malt: No or at least its questionable pure malt doesn't indicate a single malt as well as grain being included in the description at the NSLC website, possibly a 'vatted malt' akin to Johnny Walker Green label. Most Single Malts are clearly identified as such.
Presentation: The plain cardboard box is fantastic, it has a description of the distillery on the back with a picture akin to a Victorian esque engraving on the front. The bottle is really neat a black squared bottle again very Victorian in its presentation very antique looking and quite different from the bottles you see most whisky's in these days and while it may look ugly or not in fashion to some it is really fantastic in my opinion different.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden, straw very clear
Nose: Fruity right off the bat with sweetness, pears apples slight wood or rope.
Taste: Light; smokey; tobacco (pipe/cigar variety); vanilla; slightest hint of butterscotch & green apple is very present and recognizable, sweet but sweet in a very good and enjoyable way.
Palate: Creamy, no lingering aftertaste slight burn on back of tongue
Body: sticks to the glass, leaving streaks good body in so far as I can tell
Additional notes: its one of those situations where a flavor reminds you of a scent reminds me of the “Robertson Store” a historically preserved sail loft/store for mariners in Halifax from the turn of the century made with allot of oak and ebony wood filled with brass instruments and different nautical ropes. I don't do #'s or % marks but I would give this one a passing grade offer it to friends or I'd certainly recommend it.
